What is the maximum parcel size I can send?

When sending a box, bag, or suitcase to China via our parcel shipping service, your package must weigh less than 30kg/66lbs and can not exceed 0.15 cubic metres (m³) in size.

Preparing your parcel for international shipping to China

After getting your free tailored quote, book our parcel-sending services and arrange a date for our team to deliver your packing materials and collect your package ready for shipping to China.

Before we pick up your parcel, please ensure you pack your box, bag, or suitcase securely. Then, place it on a set of bathroom scales to check that it weighs less than 30kg/66lbs.

If you are sending items in your own container, avoid plastic tubs, used boxes, and laundry bags, as these won't protect your belongings adequately. You must also measure the box or bag's size to ensure it doesn't exceed the 0.15 cubic metre (m³) limit.

A cubic metre is a unit of volume representing a space one metre wide, one metre long, and one metre high. It's a crucial measurement in international shipping as it helps determine how much space your parcel will occupy in an aircraft.

How to calculate the dimensions of your box or bag:

Use the formula below to calculate your box or bag's size in cubic metres:

Length (cm) X Width (cm) X Height (cm) / 1000000 = cubic metre (m3)

Accurately measuring your parcel's cubic metre volume ensures you get an accurate quote and helps us efficiently plan cargo space, making your international shipping to China experience smooth and cost-effective.

Although you don't need to be in China when your parcel arrives, you must still provide documentation for your items to pass Chinese customs checks. You can easily complete this paperwork via your online Seven Seas Worldwide account.

Here's what you will need to upload:

  • An Inventory Packing List for one item.
  • Optional insurance forms to protect your parcel in the rare case it's lost or damaged.
  • Confirmation that your parcel's contents are used personal belongings (not new items) and cost less than the duty-free value.
  • A scan of the photo section in the parcel owner's passport.

Check out our guide to completing your online documentation for additional help and advice.

Before packing your parcel to send to China, please check our Prohibited Goods page and ensure the items within your box, bag or suitcase are not restricted from importation into the country. All countries forbid entry to certain items to protect their citizens and environment — failure to check these regulations can lead to fines and delays.

We make sending parcels to China easy and cost-effective. However, the exact cost depends on your package's origin and destination countries. Use our free instant quote tool for an itemised cost breakdown specific to your needs.

Your package will take between 7 and 10 days to reach China from the UK via our parcel shipping via air service. Transit time begins when you pay your Shipping and Transportation fee and ends when your items arrive at their destination port.

You can ship used personal items to China duty-free and with no destination charges as long as the parcel's contents cost less than CNY 1,000 and are not for resale.

However, if you want to send more than one parcel, it must be sent as a separate shipment.

I had a very good experience with Seven Seas Worldwide. I was able to see the shipment progress online and customer care was extremely helpful and friendly whenever I called. I'm pleasantly surprised at how smooth the entire process was.

4 straightforward parcel packing tips

Although it may only be a single box, bag, or suitcase, packing your parcel safely and securely should still be your top priority. And don't worry — packing parcels is a breeze when you follow our four helpful tips below!

For additional advice, read our extensive packing guides, which cover everything from picking the perfect box to decluttering hacks.

Ensure your box is secure:

First, gather your packing materials. With our parcel shipping service, your order will include a double-walled cardboard box, a roll of bubble wrap, parcel tape, and a marker pen.

Secure the box's base by folding in the flaps and sealing them shut with plenty of overlapping tape. Then, tightly wrap more tape around the bottom of your container. Once packed, secure the lid using the same process.

Take extra care with fragile items:

Wrap all items individually in bubble wrap. Use several layers for delicate goods, such as photo frames and ornaments. Place your heaviest belongings at the bottom of your box and lighter ones on top, and avoid them touching the sides.

Fill gaps between items with scrunched-up newspaper, towels, or other cushioning materials. Then, check that there is no movement in the box before sealing it tightly.

Label your box and fill in the forms:

Log into your online account, complete your Inventory Packing List and provide any additional paperwork. Remember, accuracy is essential, as Chinese customs officials will check your documentation.

Using the marker pen provided, write the job number and parcel owner's destination country and city on at least two sides of the container.

Calculate your parcel's measurements:

Before our driver arrives to collect your parcel, place the box, bag, or suitcase on bathroom scales and check that it weighs no more than 30kg/66lbs. If using your own container, you must also measure its size, as we can't accept anything over the 0.15 cubic metre (m³) limit.

Lastly, place your parcel as close to the front of your property as possible to ensure a smooth collection day.
