How to stay safe when visiting our depots
Seven Seas Worldwide's depot contains multiple hazards, such as heavy equipment, industrial machinery and moving vehicles.
On-site visitors must adhere to the following rules:
Personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety
The below applies to all areas of the warehouse and yard:
- A Seven Seas Worldwide staff member must accompany visitors.
- Drivers must remain within the marked safe driving zones and under the instruction of a forklift operator.
- Please avoid open footwear. Boots or footwear made from sturdy materials are recommended.
- A member of staff will provide you with a hi-vis vest. It must be worn at all times.
Smoking
Smoking is not permitted on site.
Animals
For their safety, all animals are forbidden.
Driver safety zones
Only park within the designated visitor parking area and switch your vehicle's engine off. Do not enter out-of-bounds areas.
Be aware of moving vehicles and follow the directions of Seven Seas Worldwide personnel.
Passengers
The Seven Seas Worldwide depot is a busy work environment and highly hazardous. Children under 16 must always remain within your vehicle and not enter our yard or warehouse for their safety.
Accident and incident reporting
All injuries (minor or significant), near misses, damaged equipment or unsafe conditions must be reported to the site supervisor or warehouse staff before leaving the site.
Seven Seas Worldwide machinery and vehicles
Visitors are forbidden from operating Seven Seas Worldwide equipment or vehicles.
The Seven Seas Worldwide depot is a busy work environment and highly hazardous. Children under 16 must always remain within your vehicle and not enter our yard or warehouse for their safety.
Do not approach a forklift operator while they are operating the machine.
Evacuation
In the event of an evacuation, follow the instructions of your designated Seven Seas Worldwide staff member or site supervisor by moving to the nearest evacuation assembly or escape point.
Site speed limit
The speed limit within all depot areas, including the warehouse and yard, is 5kph/3mph.
Hazards
Keep gangways, work routes and exits free of obstructions. Follow all hazard controls and instructions from staff to reduce the risk of injury. Possible hazards include:
Collisions: between pedestrians, vehicles, trucks, forklifts and other vehicles.
Manual handling: improper loading and unloading. (Keep a broad base of support, bend at the knees, keep your back straight and shoulders back, hold the load close to your body and set it down carefully by bending at the knees.)
Slips, trips and falls: uneven ground, obstacles, and a moving environment.
Falls from above: from warehouse racks, vehicles and other equipment.
Dangerous equipment: harmful and hazardous handling/storage.
