Saudi Arabia customs process explained
As experienced international delivery experts, we make customs clearance in Saudi Arabia simple. But there are some rules and regulations you should know.
Like all countries, Saudi Arabia bans certain items from importation to protect its people and the environment. Reference our Prohibited Goods page as you pack to avoid fines or delays.
Log into your online account and complete the following documents:
- An inventory listing everything you want to send. Saudi Arabian customs officials will see this document, so please be as accurate as possible.
- Optional insurance forms - cover for your shipment in the rare case your goods are lost or damaged.
- Colour scans of the shipment owner's passport picture and signature pages.
Travellers entering Saudi Arabia do not pay customs duty on personal belongings if they are worth less than SR3,000. Students returning to Saudi can import used household belongings with proof of university attendance.

How to pack bags and boxes to send to Saudi Arabia
It's essential to pack your belongings securely before shipping them across the world. We highly recommend using a professional packing service to ease some stress. Otherwise, pack slowly and follow our 4 best tips below. For even more detailed packing guides, reference How to choose a box for shipping and Preparing large items for collection.
Secure your boxes:
Gather together all packing materials, like parcel tape and a knife. Secure the base by folding in the small flaps, then the large flaps and sealing them shut with three layers of overlapping tape.
Cover exposed edges with more parcel tape, then wrap all around the bottom of your box. Once it's full, secure the lid in the same manner.
Be cautious with delicate goods:
Cover every item with bubble wrap and use at least two layers for fragile things. Put heavy items at the bottom of your box and lighter things above and away from the sides.
Fill gaps with soft materials like packing paper or hand towels. Softly shake your container. If you hear anything, add more cushioning things until it stops.
Complete your inventory:
Log in to your account and complete your online inventory — a detailed list of all items you're shipping. Accuracy is essential as Saudi Arabian customs officials will ask to see it.
Using a marker pen, write the job number, box number, and shipment owner's destination city and country on two sides of all containers. Reference your inventory as you write to ensure all details match.
Be prepared for collection day:
To protect both you and our driver, the max weight for each container is 30kg/66lbs. Weigh everything on bathroom scales. If a container is over the limit, remove some items.
For a smooth collection day experience, move all your boxes, bags and suitcases as close to your building's exit as possible the evening before.

My boxes were uplifted by a very friendly driver who was on time and very efficient. I had to move the date by one day, and I got an email back to say no problem. The documents were easy to complete online and to keep track of. I'm looking forward to my boxes arriving safely in Jeddah! Seven Seas Worldwide are a 5-star professional and efficient company!
