Our robust shipping boxes for international delivery

We offer strong, durable boxes to protect your possessions during long journeys. Made from chemically-strengthened cardboard, our most popular containers are Large and Standard. See below for specific measurements. Overestimate how many you need, and we'll collect any unused boxes still in brand-new condition for free.

Specially-shaped boxes made from the same cardboard are available for guitars, skis, etc. Wrap your large items securely, and we'll take them to our nearest depot and box them.

You may use your own boxes and bags but avoid laundry bags, plastic crates, used food boxes and bin liners. Such containers are likely to break and could damage the rest of your shipment.

We take care of Swiss customs clearance

Our shipping experts clear your personal belongings through customs in Switzerland. But there is some customs information you should know.

Like all nations, Switzerland has country-specific restrictions on certain items to protect its people and the environment. Please check our regularly-updated Prohibited Goods page before you pack.

Log in to your online account and complete the following documents:

  • An inventory listing every item you're shipping. Customs officials will see this, so accuracy is a must.
  • Optional insurance forms for extra cover in the rare case your shipment is lost or suffers damage.
  • Colour scans of the shipment owner's passport picture and signature pages.

Whether arriving from the European Union or the rest of the world, you can import personal effects into Switzerland duty-free. But they must be in used condition and purchased at least six months before arrival. Plus, you must be present in Switzerland before your shipment arrives.

Certain goods, such as electronic items and car accessories, are liable for VAT if the total value exceeds 300 Swiss Franc (CHF). Visit the official Swiss Customs website for further information. Our multilingual customer support team is available 24/7 to answer any questions.

Pack your possessions with this helpful 4-step guide

We recommend hiring a professional packer when sending luggage abroad. Otherwise, give yourself plenty of time and follow our handy 4-step guide below. For even more in-depth advice, check out How to choose a box for shipping and Preparing large items for collection.

Secure your boxes:

Gather your packing materials, such as parcel tape and bubble wrap. Secure the base of your cardboard box by folding in the flaps and sealing them shut with three layers of overlapping parcel tape.

Cover exposed edges with more parcel tape, then tightly wrap all around the bottom of your box. Once full, secure the lid in the same fashion.

Be careful with fragile items:

Use bubble wrap on all items and two layers for delicate or valuable goods. Place solid items at the bottom of your box and lighter things above and away from the sides.

Fill gaps with soft materials like packing paper or towels. Once full, give your container a little shake. If you hear a sound, add more soft materials till it stops.

Complete your inventory:

Log in to your account and fill in your inventory a list of all the items you're shipping. Swiss customs officials will check it, so accuracy is essential.

Using a marker pen, write the job number, box number, and shipment owner's destination country and city on two sides of each container. Check your inventory to ensure all details match.

Prepare for collection day:

No container can weigh more than 30kg/66lbs for your and our driver's safety. Weigh all boxes, bags and suitcases on scales. If a container exceeds the limit, remove some items.

For a smooth collection day, transfer all your luggage as close to your building's entrance as possible the night before.

Seven Seas Worldwide were a pleasure to deal with from beginning to end. 10/10 for customer service and great communication throughout the entire process. They are definitely the way to go when getting your goods shipped across the oceans.
