Who needs to ship a surfboard overseas?

There's nothing quite like the feel of your own surfboard when hitting the waves. Renting one at the beach is never as good — they don't have that much-loved quality we're used to. Using our favourite board means better balance, slicker moves and, most importantly, more fun!

From professionals travelling for competitions to beach getaways with family, there are many reasons to send a surfboard internationally. Luckily, our luggage delivery company can transport your boards and equipment all around the world hassle-free.

Send surfboards overseas using our trusted shipping services

Whether catching the biggest waves or gliding for hundreds of yards before wiping out, it's not the same without your favourite board. But travelling with a surfboard and your holiday baggage can be challenging. You'll have to drag everything to the airport, pass security and hope your things show up unscathed at the baggage carousel.

Avoid the stress by choosing our international shipping services. We've been sending surfboards, skis, snowboards, sports equipment and more aboard for over 25 years. We'll come to your home, pick up your surfboard and box it at our closest depot. You can ship your board and surfing equipment to hundreds of locations using our Boxes and Bags Worldwide service at an affordable cost. Packing tips for sending a board, wetsuits and more overseas

We make surfboard delivery stress-free. As part of our Boxes and Bags Worldwide service, we'll come to your home, collect your surfboard, and take it to our nearest depot. Then, we'll securely pack it into a chemically strengthened cardboard box and ship it to your destination country.

Check your quote to confirm whether or not our vans are collecting your shipment. If it's one of our partners, your shipment will only be inspected when it arrives at our hub before export. In this instance, we strongly recommend buying a padded surfboard travel bag (Seven Seas Worldwide does not endorse these products). You can reuse a padded bag, which is far cheaper than replacing a damaged board.

But there are a few essential steps needed to prepare your surfboard for shipping:

  • Clean and dry your surfboard. If we receive an unclean board, you'll incur a cleaning charge. Plus, if a local environmental agency in your destination country finds organic matter, it could lead to delays and fines.
  • Protect your surfboard during transit to our depot by covering each end with cushioning materials like bubble wrap. Then, secure it with parcel tape.
  • If possible, place your board into a hard surfboard shipping box. Otherwise, put it inside a surfboard bag and measure its height, depth and width to ensure it fits inside our boxes. Our maximum accepted dimensions are 85cm height, 155cm length and 26cm wide.
  • Weigh your surfboard inside its box or bag on bathroom scales. Our weight limit is 30kg/66lbs.

You can ship surfing accessories, such as wetsuits, board wax, leashes, fins, and other beach gear in the same order. Please pack them into a sturdy cardboard box and cover anything fragile with bubble wrap.

Although not a professional packing service, our experienced staff will box your surfboard to a high standard. Our double-walled cardboard boxes protect your board during long international journeys.

First, we inspect the exterior of your bag for defects, such as scratches. Then, we protect both ends by covering them with foam tubing and securing them with parcel tape. We then further protect the ends using several layers of bubble wrap, secured with more packing tape.

We then gently slide your surfboard bag inside our box. If there is any movement, we'll add cushioning materials until it stops. Finally, we secure the box's lid using three layers of overlapping parcel tape and label it, ready to be shipped or stored.

Please note: your surfboard will be packed into a box made from the same materials, but a different shape.

Couple preparing an inventory for customs authorities

Customs regulations when shipping a board overseas

Since we own and operate a worldwide network of depots, we offer a complete door-to-door shipping service, including customs clearance in most countries where we operate.

All countries have some items banned from importation to protect their environment and people. Please check our Prohibited Goods page before booking for the most up-to-date information.

Log into your online account and provide the following:

  • An inventory detailing every item that you're shipping. Custom authorities in your destination country will see it, so accuracy is essential.
  • Optional insurance forms to ease some stress in the rare case your surfboard is lost or suffers damage.
  • Colour scans of the shipment owner's passport picture and signature pages.

Does everything it says on the tin! Seven Seas Worldwide picked up my surfboard in the UK on time and then delivered it to our Australian daughter on time. There was no damage at all to a notoriously fragile item. The customer service team were very helpful and polite and kept us informed online as to what was happening constantly. An excellent service at a reasonable cost, what's not to like?

Thanks to more than 25 years of shipping sports equipment overseas, we simplify the experience.

Follow these easy steps:

  1. Start with a free online quote for a total cost breakdown. Place an order, pay the deposit and select a date so we can drop off any requested packing materials.
  2. Next, prepare your surfboard by thoroughly cleaning it, wrapping both ends in plenty of bubble wrap, and placing it in a surfboard bag. Then, complete your online documents and pick a suitable date so we can come to your home and collect your board.
  3. Once you've paid your Shipping and Transportation fee, we'll send your surfboard to your destination country, guide it through customs and take it to your chosen address.

You can store your surfboard and surfing accessories for free at our secure depots for 2 weeks at both the origin and destination countries in most locations where we operate. If you'd like to add longer storage time for an affordable fee, let us know 24 hours or more before we collect your possessions.

You can choose from one of our comprehensive insurance plans to cover your board in the rare chance something goes wrong. Plus, you can monitor your shipment's worldwide location using our online tracker.
