4-step box packing guide for international shipping
We want your personal possessions to arrive at their destination intact. Therefore, we recommend hiring a professional packer to do the job for you.
If packing yourself, allow for plenty of time to wrap each item and follow our helpful guide below. For further in-depth packing tips, please reference How to choose a box for shipping and Preparing large items for collection.
Build a strong foundation:
Gather all your packing materials together, such as parcel tape and bubble wrap. Fold in the small flaps of your box, then the large flaps, and seal them shut with three layers of overlapping parcel tape.
With more parcel tape, cover any exposed edges and tightly wrap around the bottom of your container. Once your box is full, repeat the process to secure the lid.
Be extra careful with fragile items:
Cover all items in bubble wrap and use several layers for fragile items, such as picture frames and glass. Place heavy items at the bottom and lighter goods on top and away from the sides of your box.
If you see any gaps, fill them with soft materials like packing paper or towels. Give your container a gentle shake. If you hear a sound, add more soft materials to prevent damage during transit.
Complete your online inventory:
As you pack, log into your account and complete your inventory — a list of every item inside your containers. Accuracy is a must, as customs officials will see it.
Using a marker pen, write the job number, box number, and shipment owner's destination country and city on two sides of each container.
Get ready for collection day:
To protect you and our driver, each box or bag must not exceed a weight of 30kg/66lbs. Weigh each container on bathroom scales. If you are over the limit, remove some items and transfer them to another container.
Lastly, move your luggage as close to the entrance of your building as possible before our driver arrives. Doing so ensures a smooth collection day experience.
Excellent service! Efficient. Someone always answered my questions whenever I called. They are well-trained and know every detail of the shipping process. Workers at the depot are friendly and helpful.
