How big are our secure delivery boxes?

Our international shipping experts offer sturdy boxes to protect your belongings when sending a delivery to Finland. Made from double-walled, chemically-strengthened cardboard, our most popular sizes are Large and Standard (see below for exact dimensions). Order more than you need; we'll collect any unused boxes still in brand-new condition for free.

We also offer specially-shaped delivery containers made from the same quality materials for instruments and sports equipment. Prepare them securely, and we'll box them at our nearest depot.

You can use your own containers. However, please avoid laundry bags, plastic crates, used food boxes and bin liners, as they will likely break in transit and damage the rest of your delivery shipment.

We make the customs process in Finland easy

If you're sending a luggage delivery from a European Union (EU) country to Finland, there is no customs clearance. For the rest of the world, our international delivery company takes care of the customs process for you. But there are some important things you should be aware of.

Ensure your delivery shipment does not include banned or restricted items. Like all nations, Finland has a list of goods you cannot import to protect its population environment. While packing, reference our Prohibited Goods page to avoid delays or fines.

Then, log into your Seven Seas Worldwide account and complete the following documents:

  • An inventory listing all items you're sending to Finland. Customs officials will see, so accuracy is essential.
  • Optional insurance forms for extra security in the rare chance your delivery shipment is lost or damaged.
  • A copy of your passport — provide colour scans of both the picture and signature pages of the shipment owner's passport.

Non-EU members may import used personal belongings to Finland free from customs duty or taxes if you meet the following conditions:

  • You have lived outside the EU continuously for at least twelve months.
  • You have owned and used the items you wish to import for at least six months.
  • You import your goods within a year of arrival in Finland.

Do note, there is no customs clearance within the EU.

Please reference the official Finish Customs website for the latest information. Our multilingual customer service team is available 24/7 to answer any customs or luggage delivery questions.

Pack luggage securely using our 4-step guide

We highly recommend hiring a professional packing service to ease some stress. Otherwise, set aside lots of time, pack slowly and follow our step-by-step guide below. For more in-depth packing tips, reference How to choose a box for shipping and Preparing large items for collection.

Carefully seal your delivery boxes:

Gather all your packing materials, like bubble wrap and parcel tape. Secure your box's base by folding in the small flaps and then the large flaps and securing them with three layers of overlapping parcel tape.

Cover exposed edges with more parcel tape, then wrap around the box's base. Once full of items, similarly seal the lid.

Be extra cautious with delicate items:

Use two layers of bubble wrap on everything and several layers for fragile goods. Place heavy items along the bottom of your box and lighter goods above and towards the middle.

Fill gaps with cushioning materials like packing paper or bath towels. Give your box a gentle shake — if it makes a noise, add more cushioning materials till it stops.

Complete your inventory:

Log in to your online account and fill in your inventory, a list of every item you're sending to Finland. Customs officials will have access to it, so please ensure accuracy.

With a marker pen, write your job number, box number, and the shipment owner's destination country and town/city on two sides of all containers. Reference your inventory to ensure all details match.

Enjoy an easy collection day:

For the safety of you and our driver, the maximum weight for each container is 30kg/66lbs. Individually weigh all suitcases, boxes, and bags on bathroom scales. If one exceeds the maximum limit, remove some items and place them in a lighter container.

For a stress-free experience on collection day, move your shipment as close to your building's entrance as possible the evening before.

From my quote to the delivery of empty boxes, packing support, collection and paperwork, I had a super smooth experience. I have used Seven Seas Worldwide four times now for numerous relocations. I will fully recommend Seven Seas Worldwide to others.
