Everything you need to know when shipping to Mauritius

To import personal possessions into Mauritius, log into your online account and complete the following documents:

  • An inventory packing list accurately detailing all the items in your shipment.
  • Optional insurance to protect your possessions in the rare case they are lost or damaged.
  • Scans of your passport picture and signature pages, as well as passport copies of all accompanying family members, if you are a returning Mauritian citizen.

Please ensure accuracy, as Mauritian customs officials will see all documents and may physically inspect your shipment.

Prohibited goods

Like all countries, Mauritius has restricted certain items to protect its citizens and environment.

Banned items include those classified as hazardous under class 2.2 (2.3), class 4.2, or class 5, including all lithium batteries (e.g. UN3090, UN3091, UN3480, UN3481 and UN3536). The sender is responsible for penalties accrued due to undeclared batteries.

Before packing, check our Prohibitive Goods page and the Mauritius Revenue Authority to avoid fines and delays. Please note that Port Louis does not accept artwork or diplomatic goods.
