Delays on the Horizon Due to Port Disruption in LA
A labour dispute at the ports of LA and Long Beach has resulted in cargo ships being backed up for the last few weeks. This means some of our customers may experience delays in the delivery of their items.
The Marine Exchange of Southern California has reported that nineteen container ships were anchored outside the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach on Saturday and the numbers continue to grow each day.
At the centre of this unprecedented congestion is a contract dispute between the Pacific Maritime Association and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union which has been going on for nine months. In an attempt to draw attention to the negotiations, the ILWU have been accused of slowing down progress out of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Representatives of the ILWU deny this.
Here's a list of the 19 container ships that have been anchored off LA and LB since Saturday:
- YM Maturity
- Xin Fei Zhou
- MSC Ivana
- YM Movement
- Hanjin Long Beach
- MSC Charleston
- Oakland Express
- CSCL Summer

- COSCO Indonesia
- YM Efficiency
- HS Colon
- Shenking
- E.R. Wilhelmshaven
- CAP Palmerston
- CMA CGM Rigoletto
- YM Masculinity

If you have sent items with Seven Seas Worldwide via the Los Angeles or Long Beach ports and would like to know more, please get in touch and we'll see if your consignment has been affected.
